Ladies Halloween costume
Witch fancy dress -Make your own witch’s costume with a black dress, black stockings or tights, and a pair of high heeled black shoes. You can wear any length of black dress, so you should be able to find something in your wardrobe that will work. Tights and stockings can be fishnets or patterned. Wear some heavy black eye make up and black lipstick and carry a broom.
Children’s Halloween costume
Skeleton – Let your child wear his black jeans or trousers and black school shoes. Take an old black rain cape or rain poncho, with hood, and cut some jagged edges into the bottom hem. Draw a bone on a piece of cardboard and cut round it. This will be your template. Use the bone template to cut sixteen bones out of an old sheet, eight for each side of a ribcage. Arrange these into a ribcage pattern on the rain cape and secure with glue.
Skeleton mask - Make a skeleton mask from an old cereal box and some paints.
You’ll need-
Cereal box
Black and white paint
A piece of elastic
Draw the outline, of a skeleton’s head, onto the box and cut it out. Measure where the eyes need to go, mark off and cut them out. Paint the whole mask in white paint, don’t be stingy –use a lot! Now the tricky bit –paint round the eyes and mouth in black and fill in a few small lines round the cheekbones. Make two holes at each side of the mask and thread the elastic through. Knot the ends to hold in place. It’s a cheap and easy mask, but the kids will have great fun making it, and will be proud to wear it for Halloween.
Men’s Halloween costume
Ghost fancy dress- A ghost costume is easy enough for anybody to make. Take an old sheet and find the centre. Drape it over your head to find where to cut out the two eye holes. Mark with a felt tip and cut them out. You can draw a mouth on in black marker pen, or just leave the face blank. If the sheet is dragging on the ground as you walk, cut it off to ankle length.
