You may be thinking I’m not very good at applying make up or I am a bloke what do I know about putting on make up! Depending on your level of skill you can still apply make up and it have a great effect on your overall costume, or you can ask another person who is a little more experienced to put the make up on for you. Here are some ideas of effects make up can create for you to consider when dressing up in fancy dress:
Vampire Fancy Dress Make Up – dressing up as a Vampire is a popular choice especially for Halloween. Applying the make up for this effect is fairly simple as it doesn’t take much, just a white face which can be accomplished with white face paint, and you can also wear black lipstick, black eye liner to define the eyes, and maybe add a bit of red around the mouth to give the illusion of blood. Very Dracula.
Zombie Fancy Dress Make Up – zombie make up can be quite varied but generally speaking you need to look dead! Again a white and pale complexion is best, blood pouring from the eyes and a few black bags under the eyes as well which a little eye shadow can achieve. With a zombie fancy dress costume you need to show how you died and so this can be from a knife in the back, or a nail in the head, or cuts and bruises all over for example. The cuts and blood effect is easy to achieve with red face paint, a tip to make your look more realistic is to use a deeper red and even black at the base of the wound, this is more life like, and bruises can be created with black and brown eye shadows.
Skeleton Fancy Dress Make Up – this idea is so easy to achieve and is very effective. Simply paint the face white, then using a black eye liner, draw around the eyes and nose and fill it in pure black. Then, again using the black eye liner, draw around the mouth and draw the outlines of the teeth. You can use a dark eye shadow to shade in your cheeks and forehead to give a more boney appearance as well.
