Ladies fancy dress –Any plaid or checked skirt or dress will complement your partner’s kilt costume. Wear a black fitted waist coat over the top of the dress and a pair of long knee high boots.
Ladies costume- Wear a short dress and cut the hemline into a ragged line. Wear a tight fitting corset over the top and wear high heeled black boots. You can turn this into a ‘buxom’ pirate wench costume by wearing a low cut dress and a push up bra. A long curly wig will finish your outfit off nicely.
Ladies costume –Wear a tight fitting floral dress in any length; pinks, greens and oranges look great. The dress should show your bare arms - halter neck dresses are perfect for this outfit. Wear a pair of thongs or flip flops and a large pair of sunglasses.
Ladies costume – You can make great ladies fancy dress costume with a pair of jeans and a silk or check shirt. Tuck the shirt into your jeans, and wear a pair of cowgirl boots. Curl your hair, wear a cowgirl hat and carry a rifle. You’ll look just like Annie Oakley.
We asked some couples what they were looking for in a couples fancy dress outfit. Fred and Wilma, Nuns and Vicars or any other fancy dress outfit?
Q. Imagine you are invited to a fancy dress party. What would you like to wear as a couple?
John-. I’d be looking for something like a James Bond costume or Raiders of the lost ark Harrison Ford fancy dress for me. I’d like to see Delia in a sexy bond girl fancy dress costume or the dress and shoes Karen Allen wore in the famous scene with the snakes.
Delia- I wouldn’t mind either of those outfits but what I’d really like us to wear is the Neo and Trinity costumes. We are both fans of the film and I think the outfits are fabulous. I’d like to wear the Trinity fancy dress outfit and I think John would look fantastic in the Neo costume. I had a look at the official fancy dress costume and the Neo robe looks fabulous and John would look good in the Neo glasses. It doesn’t come with any weapons but we can buy them as extras. It would be fun to wear the official Trinity PVC coat and Trinity glasses. I think the Trinity wig looks fabulous so I would buy this as an extra. I don’t think I’d need any weapons – I’m too cool.
Harry – Nuns and Vicars! The nun outfit for Ellen and a vicar fancy dress outfit for me. Unless Ellen fancies wearing the Vicar outfit then I’m quite happy wearing the nun outfit! It would liven things up a bit.
Ellen – It’s hard to find an outfit that we’d both like, but we’ve been to a couple of fancy dress parties wearing individual costumes and I think it would be fun to go as a pair. I love the nun and vicar fancy dress costumes. We’ll argue about who will wear which costume when we order!
Q. How will you decide what your fancy dress costume will be?
John- I’ll leave all the research to Delia and then we’d go online to have a look at all the fancy dress options. The price and availability will determine what we buy.
Delia – I don’t mind searching for the fancy dress outfits but I’d want John to have a final look before I ordered them. It’s important he will feel Ok on the night in his costume.
Harry – Ellen will buy them.
Ellen – I will buy them. Harry isn’t organised and would leave it till the last minute and we’d have to pay for fast delivery or go to the high street.
